After the highly anticipated live return with the date at MI AMI Festival, L’Officina della Camomilla has added selected new summer dates – including one in the park of Villa Manin – and two special club dates for the month of December. The summer show will be an opportunity to bring live historical songs such as “Un fiore per coltello,” “Senontipiacefalostesso,” “Agata Brioches” which went viral again in the Tik Tok era, and the new single “Dandy Candy” released at the end of April for ADA/Warner Music Italy.
L’Officina della Camomilla was born in 2008 in Milan as a solo project of Francesco De Leo. The band idea was born shortly after with the meeting between De Leo and Stefano Poletti, musician but above all videomaker (he has worked with Baustelle, TARM and many others). However, the record debut came in 2013 with “Senontipiacefalostesso Uno” for Garrincha Dischi, after hundreds of thousands of views on Youtube of self-produced tracks. In the wake of the success of the first album, the following year “Senontipiacefalostesso Due” (2014, Garrincha Dischi/Audioglobe) was released, and in between, several Ep’s containing unreleased and scattered tracks were released. This is followed by Palazzina Liberty (2016, Garrincha Disks) and the collection of one hundred tracks including demos and unreleased tracks Antologia della Cameretta (2017, Garrincha Disks).
The band’s stylistic cipher is the lightheartedness with which it represents in music “what passes outside one’s window.” Songs can come to life from notes, surreal thoughts, patterned hallucinations, cloudy skies, from every little feeling that surfaces under the skin. In the Camomile Workshop tracks toy instruments and keyboards mixed with clapping, distorted guitars à la Libertines of the golden age, an Alex Turner who prefers macabre rhymes to his band’s walls of sound. Bad fairy tales, less edgy passages reminiscent of the best The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.
