Borderwine 2024

Sunday 16 June from 17:00 to 23:00
Monday 17 June from 16:00 to 22:30

The 8th edition of the Borderwine Natural Wine Fair, one of the most eagerly awaited wine events in the region, returns to the park of Villa Manin.

A true oenological and gastronomic tour, under the shade of the park’s centuries-old trees, to get to know the best natural wine from FVG, from the north east beyond, with around 70 wineries, at least 300 labels for tasting, and dozens of producers from Italy, Austria, Slovenia and even further afield.

Borderwine once again this year confirms itself as one of the most eagerly awaited events to discover the fascinating world of natural wine, thanks also to an increasingly close collaboration between Borderwine and the FVG Region which, through the Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia brand, supports the event.

The mid-June edition is an eighth edition that maintains the peculiarity of being ‘borderless’, as evidenced by the theme of 2024, which remains borderless (brez meja, ohne Grenzen), a value that has always been very dear to the creators of the Natural Wine Fair, which ties in well with the entire regional programming for GO!2025 European Capital of Culture 2025.

Borderwine is by definition an event without barriers, just as Friuli Venezia Giulia is a cross-border land that has made its borders an added value for international cooperation,' explain Borderwine founders Valentina Nadin and Fabrizio Mansutti. ’In view of such an important and unrepeatable year for two cities, two regions and two entire countries, we are convinced that a glass of wine produced respecting nature and resources can become a symbol of unity and sharing, of borders that open up. Even more so in such a difficult and delicate historical moment, characterised by international conflicts and tensions

As is tradition during Borderwine, there will be no shortage of tastings: on Sunday at 18. 30 we move on to our transalpine cousins for ‘Languedoc and Roussillon: the new great France’: a frontier between Europe and the Mediterranean, a crossroads between Spain and Italy, Languedoc and Roussillon is one of the most fertile and dynamic areas of France, with historical appellations such as Faugères and Banyuls and other new but promising ones such as Terrasses-du-Larzac and Pic-Saint-Loup, animated by young and talented winemakers from all over the world. Giorgio Fogliani, who has dedicated his fifth work for Possibilia Editore to this territory, will guide those present to its discovery through six wines, tasted blind. Each participant will receive a copy of the book, autographed by the author.

For the first time, Borderwine also introduces an event for children: in fact, while parents will be busy tasting, young Borderwineers aged 4 to 12 will be offered the free art workshop Bianco/Nero curated by Eloisa Gozzi and Margherita Mattotti, through which, using the optical art technique, they will be able to create a collective installation made of three-dimensional-looking paper grapes.

But Borderwine’s programme does not end here; in fact, two conferences are also planned, organised respectively by Animaimpresa and ‘Part – Energy’, dedicated to different aspects of environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility, the founding values of Borderwine.

Born in 2016, in fact, Borderwine is an excellence in the Italian panorama dedicated to natural wine. The criteria for participating as a producer at the show remain the same: choice of soils, respect for their biodiversity, exclusion of any kind of pesticides, additives or chemical or physical manipulation. Producing natural wine for Borderwine means looking to the future not only of oenology, but of agriculture in general, opposing the logic that wants continuous and massive production at any cost.

Obviously, the part dedicated to food cannot be missing, with agrifood producers and several local restaurateurs who will enhance the gastronomic culture of the area with their proposals.

The presence of Go!Pasta cross-border food project and Mood from Trieste is confirmed.

Finally, Borderwine will have its own space where it will propose the excellence of the territory, such as San Daniele ham in collaboration with the Ai Barnabiti tavern in Udine.

Borderwine is organised with the patronage and support of Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia, Villa Manin Erpac, Chamber of Commerce Udine and Pordenone and thanks to Civibank Gruppo Sparkasse, Interlaced, Prontoauto, Pratic House, Enofriuli, Tyre Resort, La Furlanina, Mise En Place, GetYourBill, GetYourCash, Demar caffè, EcoZona Iberia, Battaglia Danilo Assicurazioni, Lavanderia Adriatica, Music Team, Risparmio Netto, l’Alveare, Powers to Flowers, Vedetta 2 Mondialpol.
